About

Carrie Petitt, Coach

Hi, I’m CaRRIE

I’m A certified co-active coach, communications and fundraising consultant & FACILITATOR

Why I’m a coach

It brings me so much joy to see the power of coaching: To serve as a witness for my clients as they discover what they truly want and need. I believe self-awareness, emotional intelligence and fearless vulnerability are superpowers that allow us to connect deeply with others while making us better leaders too. What brings me joy

I enjoy hiking, travelling to wild places, snowboarding, watching my rescue dog run like a wolf, craft workshops, historical fiction and dancing… Lots of dancing.

  • “Carrie’s coaching was hugely beneficial for my line reports. The space for them to zoom out from their work, even from their roles to themselves; their personal goals and their potential, really allowed for productive self-reflection and learning.”

    Charity Head of Department

  • “Carrie has been a brilliant coach and has really helped me over the past 12 sessions to progress my thinking and change the way that I view things - not least myself. She's very friendly and open, and this helps make you feel at ease even when discussing harder topics. I'd definitely recommend.”

    Charity Fundraising Manager

  • “Carrie was an excellent coach - very approachable and open. She helped me refresh my perspective and refocus on the things that are important to me. Thank you!”

    Charity Fundraising Manager

from the brink of burnout to finding balance

Rewind several years and I was Account Director at a growing creative agency, working with amazing charity clients on six-figure fundraising campaigns. My inner perfectionist loved the challenge of project managing multiple accounts, the people pleaser in me couldn't say no, while the part of me that was a restless achiever wanted to do more and more... I wanted to help as many charities as possible and have maximum impact. Every cause felt so important and my desire to help totally outweighed my desire to look after myself.

Sometimes I'd get on the train to go home and I'd hear my pulse in my own ears. Then I'd get up the next day, rinse and repeat. The weekends flew by and often I'd feel too exhausted to make any plans. When I took time off, I'd take days to slow down and often I'd end up sick.

I managed to sustain this way of being for several years, until my body started saying no. I was exhausted and my blood pressure was through the roof. In early 2019, I decided to step off the workaholic treadmill and became a self-employed consultant. Importantly, I made a promise to myself that I’d aim to go with the flow and ‘see how it goes’ (spoiler alert, it’s been amazing!). I even wrote myself a manifesto on day one, that still stands today.

In early 2021, I started training as a coach. In the process, I unpicked everything I thought I knew about myself. I learned to lean into emotion and vulnerability. I re-wrote the stories I was telling myself about how I should show up in the world. And I reconnected my mind and body, which had been ignoring each other for so long.

Fast-forward to today and I'm still proudly doing my own thing. I work with some of the biggest charities and creative agencies across the UK to help them deliver innovation, communications, and fundraising projects, while also running my coaching business.

I still work incredibly hard and pride myself on doing every project to the best of my ability, but I also have an incredible work-life balance. I create space for myself when I need it and set boundaries with very little hesitation. By being kinder and more honest with myself, I'm able to be fully present in supporting others in life and work.

I now coach individuals and teams (mostly in the third sector or businesses with social purpose), giving them space to slow down, reflect and discover the power of self-leadership, so they can start putting themselves first.

My goal is to support people doing positive work in the world, especially the restless achievers, so they can find better balance in life and work. I want to make sure they avoid burnout, so they can continue having incredible impact for years to come.
